Users – 06 – Shared Permissions

The Additional Permissions section is where you can assign the user with permissions related to the Control Panel and the more general abilities allowed to them. There are 2 separate settings that can be assigned in this section.

The Data Entry tab – see figure 1 – assigns the ability to use free text in certain fields within the system. In most cases users should be restricted from free text for fields other than Items. If a user is allowed free text then the field will not be fully managed and controlled in the system. This can also cause problems when trying to link to a financial package. There are 5 options available for this setting:

  1. Can use free text for Vendors
    This assigns the user authority to free text supplier details into the order. They will not need to select from the approved supplier list in the system and the order will not be assigned with a supplier code for linking to your financial package.
  2. Can use free text for Delivery Location
    This assigns the user authority to free text delivery location details into the order. They will not need to select from the approved delivery location list in the system.
  3. Can use free text for Items
    This assigns the user authority to free text item details into the order. They will not need to select from the approved item list in the system.
